This last week in June marked the fifth anniversary of the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore City. The museum provides resources and information on the history of African Americans in Maryland. David T. Terry, executive director of the museum, is proud of what the museum has accomplished over the past five years. However, he does admit that there is still plenty of more work to be done.

Ravens Sign Kicker Shayne Graham
Growing up in Baltimore, I am obviously a huge Ravens fan and that's an understatement. I watch every game and every chance I have to go to a game, believe me I am there. My family and I are such big fans that we even risked our lives to go to the AFC championship game between the Ravens and the Steelers in 2009. That was quite an experience.
Although last season ended up not being a total waste (thank goodness) I am glad that the team is looking much more promising this year. With the addition of Anquan Boldin and some great rookies, I think the Ravens really have a chance at winning the Super Bowl--knock on wood!
Recently included as a new player is Shayne Graham, kicker for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2003-2009. Today, the Ravens signed Graham, to a one year, $2.5 million contract. Graham will be competing against Billy Cundiff for the starting position.
Both players endured many difficulties last year, but I think the competition will be good for them. Hopefully they'll step up their games and really battle it out for that starting spot. Who will get it? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
GO RAVENS!

Max Siskind: The Musician
So, my brother definitely got all of the musical talent in the family. I couldn't sing if my life depended on it and the only experience I had with a musical instrument was the flute in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, which I quit as soon as possible. The only time I can ever be caught singing is in the shower or in the car- the latter is mostly to annoy my brother.
Although it would be cool to be a famous singer or musician, I have come to terms with my lack of musical ability. Instead, I live vicariously through my brother, Max, who I must say is very good. He has been taking guitar lessons for about five years and also plays the drums. And recently, he started writing his own music. Max has played at numerous events at his high school and in the community. I love watching him perform and I think you will too!

Sex and the City 2
Wow, my first blog. I never thought I would see the day where I, Gabby Siskind, had a blog. But I must say, it's pretty cool. I get to design my own page and write about whateverrr I want. In school you are given essay topics, told which books to read, what articles to research.. but not on my blog.
I have lived in Maryland for my entire life. I grew up in Baltimore and now I go to the University of Maryland. That's 19 years of living in the same place. And while I can't complain, I often dream of life in a big city, like New York. I would have to say that it's my dream to live there. That being said, I cannot deny my obsession with Sex and the City. I own the entire series and have seen every episode at least three times. I also own the first movie and have seen it more times than I can count. The other day my mom and I went to see the second movie, which recently came out. I was very skeptical. The first movie ended so well-- Big and Carrie were finally together and all of the loose ends were tied up. Also, the trailer seemed to show all of the good parts, something I hate. Seriously, don't show me the entire movie before I have even seen it. Needless to say, walking into Sex and the City 2, my expectations were very low.
However, when I left the movie I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, the fashion was a tad over the top and I would never be caught dead in one of those ridiculous hats Carrie wore. But, despite a previous movie that ended so well, I thought the plot was great. Essentially, the writers made something out of nothing. I liked that there wasn't a ridiculous story line that did not fit who the characters were. For example, I would have never wanted to see Samantha settle down and get married because that's just not who she is. On the other hand, Charlotte being overwhelmed by her two daughters and motherly responsibilities was much more feasible. And once again, the movie ended happily ever after.
Is there the possibility of a third one? Definitely. Will they actually make a third one? I honestly hope not. A second movie was pushing it. Sex and the City needs to end while it's ahead. And thats coming from a true fan.
